‘The C. Niles’
The C. Niles are the over 35’s age group team at the Bays. We play our rugby across Auckland’s North Shore, as part of the North Harbour Union and with over thirty guys registered to play, this makes us one of the most popular teams on the Shore. The reasons for our success? Well, we like to think that we are a friendly bunch who welcome players of all abilities. Everyone who turns up to play will get game time; and whilst we always play to win, we do so in the spirit of the Presidents’ game: where every match results in a four try draw. And just quietly, of course, there is the world renowned C. Niles’ end of season tour.
Our original philosophy was that we hoped that some of the team could play, if not drink; and that some could drink, if not play. Whilst we live in more health conscious & family-friendly times, the C. Niles have not lost sight of the social side of rugby and we make sure our better halves, our kids and whanau have the chance to join us at every opportunity (Ladies dinner…pig roasts…off season cricket…fishing competition….team dinner & prize-giving, C. Niles touch teams… etc, etc).
So, if you are staring manopause in the face, yet insist on clinging to a vision of youth and talent, why not dig out your boots and join us for “just one more season…” ?
